Understanding the Planning Process
Guiding through NDIS Funding Options
Understanding NDIS funding is crucial for individuals with disabilities and their families seeking support through the National Disability Insurance Scheme. NDIS funding is designed to provide tailored assistance, enabling participants to achieve their goals and enhance their quality of life. It involves three main categories:
- Core Support Budget
- Capacity Building Support Budget
- Capital Support Budget

Core Supports assist NDIS participants with their everyday activities and essential needs. These supports address the most fundamental aspects of daily life and aim to improve a participant’s ability to function independently. Core Supports can include assistance with personal care, household tasks, transportation, and community engagement. Core Supports aims to enable individuals to maintain their well-being, safety, and access to the community.
Capacity Building support enhances a participant’s skills, knowledge, and independence. These supports are aimed at helping individuals develop their abilities and achieve their long-term goals. Capacity Building Supports encompass various services, such as skill development, education and training, employment support, and social inclusion activities. These supports aim to empower participants to become more self-reliant and actively participate in their community.
Capital Supports fund one-off expenses essential to a participant’s well-being and independence. This category includes funding for assistive technology, home modifications, vehicle modifications, and other items or equipment that improve a person’s quality of life. Capital Support helps participants acquire the necessary tools and resources to overcome barriers and achieve their goals. These supports are designed to provide long-term benefits and can significantly enhance an individual’s independence and participation in daily activities.
